Note: Dracaena gulanensis. The caiman lizard is large, averaging between 2 and 4 feet in length. Weight is normally between 3 and 6 pounds. Caiman Lizards have red-orange heads and green bodies. It has a laterally flattened tail. Their heads are very large, and they have movable eyelids. They are covered with scales, many being heavy and large. Caiman Lizards are aquatic and terrestrial. They have powerful jaws, and use them to crush shelled insects, and then extract the soft parts using their flat, rounded teeth. Young caiman lizards may be eaten by birds and larger mammals. The name “caiman” comes from their appearance, which resembles the caiman alligators of South America. Heavily hunted for the reptile leather trade, hundreds of thousands of these lizards are killed each year for their skin.

Green Iguana

Green Iguana Skull
Size: 115mm/4.5in. 71/2.8. 70/2.75
Cost: $180
 (+ shipping)
Note: Full-grown green iguanas are usually between four and six feet, although they have been known to grow up to seven feet long. This includes the tail, however, which can make up about half the body length and, in addition to its green color, has black stripes. Green iguanas, not surprisingly, are green in color, but can be found in many different shade ranging from bright green, to a dull, grayish-green. Their skin is rough, with a set of pointy scales along the iguana's back. Green iguanas have long fingers and claws to help them climb and grasp. Iguanas are diurnal, meaning that they are awake during the day. They are also cold-blooded, which means they do not produce their own body heat. In other words, if it is cold, the iguana is cold too. So to stay warm, green iguanas bask in the sun, lying on warm rocks as they soak up the sun's heat. Green iguanas are omnivorous, so they eat both plants and meat. They tend to eat mostly plants, though, especially leaves and fruits. Sometimes green iguanas (especially young ones) will eat eggs, insects, and small vertebrates.

Rhinocerous Iguana Skull

Rhinocerous Iguana Skull
Size: 5x4x3in/13x10x8cm
Cost: $240
(+ shipping)
Note: Cyclura cornutia. These large iguanas are grayish, brown, or olive in color. Rhino iguanas can grow to be 2 - 4 feet in length. They can weigh between 13 - 22 pounds. Both sexes have nose outgrowths which look like horns and round, fleshy crowns on the back portion of their heads. This can explain the name "Rhinoceros" Iguana. Rhino Iguanas are cold-blooded so they spend much of their time basking in the sun. They usually bask in their own territory. Males will defend their territory aggressively, making it difficult for zoos to exhibit more than one male. A male's territory says many things about him. A high-ranking, dominant male will have a larger territory which is closer to the females, have great basking spots and have safe overnight quarters. A large territory that is equipped with these important things tells other Rhino Iguana males that he is not to be challenged. It may also tell females that he would produce strong offspring.

Komodo Dragon

Komodo Dragon Skull
Size: 5.9 in / 15 cm
Cost: $260
 (+ shipping)
Note: Varanus Komododoensis; The Komodo dragon is the world's largest lizard species. It is found mainly on the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rintja, Padar, and Flores. Reaching lengths of up to 3 m or more, and weighing up to 126 kg, these reptiles are swift runners and climbers with great appetites for deer and wild boar. Although often regarded as pests, they are not a serious menace to humans. In order to protect the dragon, the Indonesian government has made the islands of Padar and Rintja into nature reserves for both the lizard and its prey.
